Book Description

Vhdl By Example Blaine Readler pdf – A practical primer for the student and practicing engineer, already familiar with the basics of digital design, develop a working understanding of the VHLD hardware description language step-by-step using contextual easy-to-understand examples. Starting with a simple but practical design sample, the more complex fundamentals of the language are introduced until all the main features of VHDL are brought to light. Coverage includes an introduction to the techniques of state machines, modular design, FPGA-based memories, clock management, specialized I/O, and simulation. The goal is to prepare the reader to design real-world FPGA solutions. All the sample code used in the book is available online. What Strunk & White did for the English language with “The Elements of Style”, for example, Vhdl does for FPGA Design.

The purpose of this book is to provide a guide to help students and young engineers develop the skills needed to be able to use VHDL for introductory and intermediate-level digital design. These skills will also give you the ability and confidence to continue with VHDL-based digital design.

About the Authors

Blaine is a Consulting Electronics Engineer and holds four patents (including FakeTV). He can still run the six-minute mile but later appears neurotic for five minutes. In College English 101, his professor repeatedly wrote on his composition assignments, “When are you going to start writing college-level material?” He’s still struggling with the answer. His work straddles a no man’s land between mainstream and science-fiction. He refers generically to his novels as “speculative adventure – ordinary people battling extraordinary circumstances”.
