About the Author

Donald E. Knuth is well known for his groundbreaking work on algorithms and programming approaches, as well as his invention of the TEX and METAFONT computer typesetting systems and his prolific and important writing. He is currently devoted full time to the completion of these fascicles and the seven volumes to which they belong as Professor Emeritus of The Art of Computer Programming at Stanford University.
