Book Description – PHP & MySQL: The Missing Manual

PHP & MySQL: The Missing Manual – If you already know how to make websites with CSS and JavaScript, this book will teach you how to make dynamic, database-driven websites with PHP and MySQL. Learn how to create a database, manage information, and communicate with people. This newly redesigned edition gets you started with increased coverage of the basics and takes you deeper into the world of server-side programming with step-by-step lessons.

This book teaches you how to do something incorrectly so that you may better learn how to do it correctly. This has been extremely beneficial to me because I’m the type of person who has to be able to fail in order to learn. Indeed, one of the first things it teaches is how to write your own error handling code, which is an essential skill that I’ve incorporated into all of the apps I’ve created since. I can’t express how much I appreciate the author’s teaching style because it has allowed me to become much more comfortable coding on my own than I have been with previous books.

This book has a wealth of information on how to set up Wamp or Mamp to use MYSQL. So far, I’ve found a lot of the book to be quite beneficial, and I’ve only read about half of it. If you’re new to PHP, MYSQL, or JSON, this book is easy to understand and provides up-to-date code. I recommend it since it has a wealth of information on how to set up and utilize PHP and MySQL in general. They are both simple and complex. This book is well worth the money.

About The Author

Brett McLaughlin is an award-winning and successful nonfiction author. Over 100,000 copies of his books on computer programming, home theatre, and analysis and design have been sold. He’s been writing, editing, and producing technical publications for nearly a decade and is equally at ease behind a keyboard as he is behind a guitar, chasing his two kids and daughter around the house, or laughing with his wife at repeats of Arrested Development.

Brett now devotes the majority of his time to cognitive theory, codifying and elaborating on the learning ideas that helped turn the Head First series into a best-seller. He’s fascinated about how humans learn best, why Star Wars was so formulaic yet so popular and believes that a decent video game is the most effective learning paradigm we have.
