Book Description –
It is intended to teach non-programmers Objective-C, the programming language used to construct iPhone and iPad apps. Many books aimed at new Apple developers make far too many assumptions. This book series, on the other hand, assumes you know nothing about programming. Kevin McNeish, winner of the 2012 Publishing Innovation Award, highly recognised iOS trainer and conference speaker, and award-winning App Developer, returns with the second book in the series.
Concepts become more advanced as you progress through the book, until you reach the last chapters on Advanced-Objective-C and Advanced Messaging. Each idea is supported by step-by-step instructions for creating an App that demonstrates how Objective-C programming features are used in the real world. This is a huge assist in getting non-programmers to understand even more difficult concepts. This book’s knowledge is suitable to the most recent iOS technology, such as iOS 7 and Xcode 5.
Each exercise in this book is accompanied with a video that illustrates how to complete the task. After you’ve tried to solve the problem on your own, simply tap the movie to see the problem solved in high quality video and narration. Readers will eventually learn everything that is taught in standard written-for-programmer publications. For people who haven’t had formal schooling or a job in software development, this series merely provides additional background material and more extensive explanations.
Every page demonstrates the author’s expertise in Objective-C programming, which is to be expected. His teaching ability and style, which is so well-thought-out, clear, and succinct, astounds me. I’m now getting and grasping a programming language and how it works as a whole, as I described briefly in my previous evaluation. The author has discovered a way to educate about the language while keeping all of the interconnected aspects in mind and in a way that beginners can understand and retain. This has been really irritating for me, as I’ve spent the last ten years flipping through introductory books on a half-dozen programming languages.
