Book Description – Beginning Angular with Typescript pdf

Beginning Angular with Typescript – Angular is one of the most popular frameworks for creating cross-platform apps. Build fast and high-performing apps for any platform, including online, mobile web, native mobile, and native desktop, by reusing your code. To create a huge, powerful app, you employ small, manageable components. There’s no need to waste time looking for DOM nodes anymore!

We’ll take you on a fun, hands-on, and practical journey to grasp Angular from the perspective of web development in this book. Within minutes, you’ll be able to create Angular apps. I don’t want to spend your time (or mine) on stuff you don’t need, therefore each section is written in a bite-sized and straight-to-the-point format. Finally, you’ll have everything it takes to create a real-world app. This book is intended for programmers who have a basic understanding of HTML, CSS, Javascript, and object-oriented programming. No prior knowledge of TypeScript or AngularJS is required.

When your apps grow in size, the book does an excellent job of explaining how to structure your modules and components. Other Angular texts I’ve seen don’t go into as much detail about this. It also does a decent job of at least introducing the user to utilizing Firebase to construct a simple backend for your Angular client project.

Overall, this is a fantastic book with a few drawbacks. The first 5 or 6 chapters were fantastic, with clear explanations and useful code pieces to demonstrate new concepts. The experience then became a little annoying for the next 4 or 5 chapters as steps were skipped and you had to deduce what components you needed to import or that the authors were using Bootstrap in every new project even though they didn’t explicitly mention so. Some of the content is also a little out of date, for example, one chapter uses Glyphicons to design a component, but the most recent version of Bootstrap no longer supports Glyphicons, so you’ll have to complete the exercise with an older version of Bootstrap.

About The Author

Greg Lim is a programmer and the author of several books on the subject. Greg has extensive experience teaching programming in tertiary institutions and lays a strong emphasis on hands-on learning. Overall, it’s a solid book that covers the “how” of constructing Angular projects, but you’ll need to look for explanations of “why” you’re doing what you’re doing in other books, documentation, or videos.
